Bike 101 is a family bike shop in Solana Beach, California (just north of San Diego). There is a great selection of beach cruisers, city bikes, and mountain bikes. 101 is the only shop in San Diego that has embraced the beauty of cyclocross and all of the pain and suffering that it brings. All of the 101ertons love TIG-welded steel bikes and believe that the fewer gears, the better. Owner Scott Rittschof (O.M.R.) has been in the bike business for 25 years and has raced his share of CX, including the Surf City Classics in the early '90s. Manager Dan Breyer is the local onef@*%kingspeeder, and found last 'cross season that the lung-searing pain of cyclocross complements the agony of single-speeding. Buyer Jeff Rowe ( jro ) was a bike messenger (strictly fixed) for 14 years across the pond, and this will be his first winter racing 'cross. Bike 101 proudly supports the Celo Pacific Racing Team , who promote the excellent So Cal Cross Cup.
