Where are you located?
Kelly® is based in Oakland, California How long has Kelly Bike Co. been in business? Chris has been making, repairing and painting bikes for over 15 years. He started the business as a custom shop - making one bike at a time. In 1995 Chris realized that he could meet more of his customers' needs if he had "stock" to sell. He also noted that 90-95% of his customers fit into the same sizes. Hence leaving just a few folks that really needed something custom. So was born our high end production philosophy. Today we manufacture limited production runs of Knobby Cross, Mountain, Road and Cruisers which we then pre-paint most of them and have them in "stock" ready to go. In addition, we still make one-off customs for those that fall out of the "norm". How many bikes do you make a year? It varies. This year we will make about 600 production and a bunch custom. We also manufacture components and do a fair amount of prototype and fabrication work projects. Does Chris still make every bike himself? No, not really. Chris designs, specs and oversees all of Kelly® production. We use in-house as well as out-sourced resources to meet our quality and production needs. Can I buy stock in Kelly®? Kelly® is not a publicly traded company. We are a Limited Liability Company and we are privately held. If you are interested in investing in Kelly® please contact us. Do you warranty your frames? Normal wear and tear is not warranted. Nor is abuse. What is covered by Kelly® is any Kelly® manufacture defects. For more information please read Kelly®'s Terms & Condition of Sale. Can you tell me the difference between 853 Reynolds tubing & OX Gold? Besides one's made in the US of A and one isn't. True Temper is a little bit stronger and tougher --yield strength 210 -220 thousand pounds per square inch tensile strength). What that means is a really smooth and resilient ride. How do you measure your frames?
For mountain bike seat-tube is measured from center of bottom bracket to the top of seat tube. Top tube is measured as a theoretical top tube line (horizontal line) from center to center. For road & cross the seat-tube is measured center of bottom bracket to top of top tube. The top tube is measured center to center. What are your cable routing options? Depends on the bike. Keeping it simple is usually what works best. For mountain we run the cable stops at 10 o'clock on top tube front and back set for V-brake and the downtube cable stops at 4 and 8 o'clock and underneath. For knobby Cross it is the same as mountain. For road top tube is different it is underneath at 8 o'clock. Can I give a Kelly® Gift Certificate? Sure. A Kelly® makes a great anyday gift. Just give us a call (800-KELLY-ME) and we will confirm the denominations available. Do you ship overseas? Kelly® sells all over the globe. We can ship pretty much anywhere. The customer is responsible for shipping & handling costs as well as any taxes and duties. Kelly® typically uses UPS and Federal Express but has worked with our customer's preferred freight forwarders. Can you let me know about new stuff?
